Thanksgiving morning arrived in Dino Hollow with a crisp breeze, clear skies, and the smell of roasted swamp berries drifting across the valley. Inside the Bronto Brothers rehearsal barn, the band gathered for their yearly tradition. This time, a group of neighborhood kids joined them. That meant the Brontos were trying their best to behave like responsible dinosaurs. Results were mixed.
Raptor Rex, the unofficial leader, stood beside the microphone.
“Alright, team. Today, we share what we are thankful for. Keep it meaningful.”
A few band members groaned. Groovy tuned her bass. Axe Raptor spun a guitar string like a lasso. Thumper tried to balance a drumstick on his nose. Pterodactyl Tim drifted in slow circles near the rafters. T Rhythm quietly strummed a gentle chord, hoping to blend in with the furniture.
Before Rex could begin, a loud bang echoed outside the barn. Every dinosaur froze. The kids gasped. Rhythm’s tail puffed up like a stressed possum.
Rex raised one claw. “We will check on that in a minute. First, gratitude.”
The band nodded. Sort of.
Raptor Rex: Thankful for Voices and Courage

Rex stood tall, placed one claw on his chest, and spoke with his usual dramatic flair.
“I am thankful for my voice. Not because it is loud, but because singing helps me feel brave. Anyone can roar when they are scared. Singing takes courage, especially when the high notes tickle.”
Groovy whispered, “Or wobble.”
Rex pretended not to hear.
T Rhythm: Thankful for Simple Moments

T Rhythm held up his acoustic guitar.
“I am thankful for quiet moments. When you sit outside, strum a few chords, and the wind carries the sound away. It reminds me that the world is bigger than my problems.”
Groovy gave him a little clap. “Very poetic for someone who once lost an argument with a hammock.”
“It was complicated,” Rhythm said.
Axe Raptor: Thankful for Broken Strings

Axe Raptor held up a handful of snapped strings like trophies.
“I am thankful for broken strings. Everyone teaches me something new. Restringing in the middle of a show is basically a superpower.”
Rex sighed. “You could also try breaking fewer strings.”
Axe smiled. “Growth is messy.”
Groovy: Thankful for the Beat of Life

Groovy plucked a deep note that shook the rafters.
“I am thankful for rhythm. A steady beat helps you stay grounded when life gets weird. Even when certain raptors start solos that last half an hour.”
Axe said, “I was inspired.”
Groovy said, “You were in a trance.”
Thumper: Thankful for Second Chances

Thumper dug his drumstick out of a toppled milkshake.
“I am thankful for second chances. When you drop a stick, miss a beat, or knock over your entire drum kit, you get to try again. Also, I am thankful for snacks.”
Groovy nodded. “Very honest.”
Pterodactyl Tim: Thankful for Curiosity

Tim drifted down from the rafters, glowing in soft purples and blues.
“I am thankful for curiosity. Without it, I never would have learned about music or joined the band. Curiosity is the reason I discovered that sound waves look beautiful when you fly through them.”
Rex nodded. “Very wise.”
Tim pointed toward the barn doors. “Also, I am curious about that bang.”
The kids leaned forward.
The bang echoed again. Louder this time.
Rex took a slow breath. “Alright, team. Time to investigate.”
Axe cracked his knuckles.
Groovy shook her head.
T Rhythm whispered, “If I disappear, tell the hammock it won.”
Thumper grabbed a spare drumstick like a flashlight.
Tim glided forward without a sound.
They pushed open the doors.
Wind whistled. Leaves skittered across the ground. A shadow twitched behind the hay pile.
And out tumbled… a scarecrow.
A very tangled scarecrow wearing one of T-Rhythm’s missing hats.
T-Rhythm gasped. “My hat!”
Groovy groaned. “We almost called Dino Patrol for this.”
Axe laughed. “Honestly, that scarecrow has the stage presence of a rock star.”
The band burst into laughter. Even the scarecrow smiled politely.

Rex turned to everyone.
“Happy Thanksgiving! Remember to be thankful, stay curious, and secure your hats.”
Tim added, “And check mysterious noises instead of ignoring them.”
Thumper nodded. “I am thankful for that advice, too.”
